Priscilla Presley is ready to share a new chapter of her life with fans and the world. The 79-year-old announced on Instagram that her newest memoir Softly, As I Leave You: Life after Elvis — a look into her personal journey after her separation from Elvis Presley in 1973.
Priscilla — who married the iconic musician in 1967 — explained in her post that she “learned so much about love, grief, joy, and transformation in the years since I lost Elvis” and that she is “finally ready to share my personal journey with you in the hope that it will help you on your own.” Fans shared their excitement about the upcoming memoir, with one fan commenting that they’re “so excited to read this! Thank you Priscilla for sharing your stories with us .” PEOPLE reported that the new memoir — co-written with Mary Jane Ross — “will cover her journey following her separation from the high-profile musician, who died in 1977.”
“This book covers eight decades of my life,” Priscilla told PEOPLE. “Writing it has been a learning experience on many levels. I have reflected deeply both on myself and on those I love. I have always loved and admired Elvis, but the more than four decades of living without him have taught me how rare and extraordinary he was as a human being.”
According to the official synopsis, the story will focus on Priscilla’s 10-year marriage to Elvis, where “It became painfully apparent that she had no idea who she was outside Elvis’s world. The only way to find herself was to leave that world and seek a new life of her own, because leaving was the only way to survive, for herself and for her daughter.”

Softly, As I Leave You: Life after Elvis will be published on Sept. 23, 2025 and is now available for preorder, wherever books are sold.
