Kate Middleton’s choice to wear Victoria Beckham to an event celebrating British fashion yesterday was of her own volition, a source close to the designer said, and indicative of the “mutual respect” between the two women.
On May 13, the Princess of Wales presented the Queen Elizabeth II Award for British Design at an event hosted by the British Fashion Council wearing mustard green Victoria Beckham separates—both the brand’s Patch-Pocket Jacket and its Alina Trouser— from Beckham’s Spring/Summer 2025 collection.
Underneath the jacket she wore a white Knatchbull blouse—specifically the brand’s Cascade Ruffle Blouse, according to fashion site What Kate Wore—and accessorized with Ralph Lauren pumps (specifically its Celia style in the Ralph Lauren Gold colorway) and a touch of sentimentality in the form of the late Queen’s Bahrain Pearl Drop Earrings, which Kate has worn on several occasions.
A source speaking to The Mirror said it was “really great” that the future queen had supported the Victoria Beckham brand, telling the outlet that “the Princess of Wales has worn Victoria’s designs before, and it’s really great to see that she’s wearing one again, especially as the outfit was not gifted and very much her own call to wear it.”
Speaking of Beckham and her husband David and Kate and her husband Prince William, the source added, “Both couples support each other’s charities, and David and William are friends, too, so there is a great deal of mutual respect there.”
After a call earlier this year to focus more on Kate’s work—and less on her wardrobe—the Princess of Wales has sported a number of re-wears for her public appearances in 2025. The new Victoria Beckham separates—in an unexpected color, to boot—were a nice shakeup, and a source said of the look that it was “a show of support for British fashion, which is a huge passion for the princess.”
